FIQ (Fédération Interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec)

To defend the interests of the 57,000 care professionals

As the new president and an activist at the FIQ for 25 years, I want to share the enthusiasm and pride that I am feeling after having been elected as the head of an organization as formidable as that of the care professionals of the FIQ.

I want to make you aware of some of my concerns and commitments. I will work relentlessly to maintain cohesion in our ranks, to keep us where we belong within the Common Front and to preserve our specificity as care professionals during the negotiation of our next collective agreement. I intend to defend our demands with all the energy of someone who knows that anything is possible.

The Federation has made organization of work its battle cry for many years, a battle that must continue. In this respect, I want to consider organization of work as a tool that will return caregivers and healthcare to the place they belong in our healthcare network and to maintain or return to a more human aspect of healthcare. In this sense, I want a large number of care professionals to join in this approach and the backing of the Quebec public.

I want to work by your side in order for the FIQ to remain a democratic and accessible organization, an organization that encourages involvement of the greatest number possible in the decision-making process, by mobilization, by access to union education and by the right to information, among others. It is at the FIQ that I, like many other women, have learned the power of women, a power that must be preserved in order to pursue the struggle for equality between men and women.

Lastly, I have been part of all the FIQ battles for more than 25 years and, as president, I want to redouble the fervor for defending all FIQ positions at all public forums. I want to defend care professionals with feeling, honor and using action.

In solidarity,
