The FIQ denounces the cutbacks of 28 million dollars and the poor management at the MUHC

FIQ demands that the MUHC management make public their global plan of compressions.  The MUHC management must cut 28 million dollars but refuse to reveal how this will be done. Instead of consulting the health care professionals, the MUHC is cutting services which impacts on patient care and increases the health care professionals’ workload. We ask that management be transparent and show us their global plan of compressions declared Régine Laurent, President of FIQ.

Nothing seems to be going right at the MUHC. Management is making rash decisions without considering the impacts on patients and staff. There are 28 units at the MUHC where the health care professionals are in a situation of overload. The cases of sick leaves are increasing and management continue to add on to our workload. We have made many inquiries but no one is listening, declares Denyse Joseph, President of FIQ Union at the MUHC.

The latest MUHC cutback measure is to increase the health care professional-to-patient ratio. Obviously, this will compromise the safety of care and overload the health care professionals, while the 4.7% positions in management is higher in comparison to the CHUM with 3.6%, denounced Daniel Gilbert, Vice-President of FIQ.

We have here another great example of the liberal management of the health care network. Minister Gaétan Barrette’s creating chaos. If the Prime Minister Couillard believes he is saving Québec, I can tell him that he is killing the health care system, concludes Régine Laurent.
