The provincial and federal budgets under a magnifying glass

Because the governments’ choices have a major impact on health, the resources available for the priorities, we are closely following the budget news and the distribution of funding. In the month of March, the two levels of government gave their budget speeches and made public all the documentation associated with the announcement of revenue and expenses.

You may have read on these pages our reactions to the two budgets that were recently presented. For those who would like to go a little further and set the record straight about the many government announcements, the FIQ has made available 5 descriptive factsheets. These factsheets include the most important data, the salient facts and the issues that affect the healthcare professionals, in particular, on each one of the themes retained:

  1. Funding of the public healthcare system: concerns on the horizon
  2. An increase of 3.6% actually intended for services to the population
  3. Reinvestment? Far from meeting the needs of the population!
  4. Status of Women: resources which continue to fade away
  5. Federal Health Transfers Revived by Growth
