Partial closure of the Emergency at the centre Cloutier-du rivage: The healthcare professionals of the Mauricie et du Centre-du-Québec are worried about access to community care

The Emergency of Centre Cloutier-du Rivage in the Cap-de-la-Madeleine sector will partially close for the evening shift from June 30 to September 2, 2017. That is what the Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de la Mauricie et du Centre-du-Québec learned today, a decision that they are strongly denouncing.

“This is not the first time that patient services are suffering. The Emergency at the centre Cloutier-du Rivage has already gone through partial closures and interruptions of services. Once again, it is the medical coverage, the presence of the physicians, that is causing it” explained the president of the tranisitional executive committee of the Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de la Mauricie et du Centre-du-Québec, Ms. Nathalie Perron. “The Emergency Department at the centre Cloutier-du Rivage offers community services, and they must be protected once and for all.”

Remember that last February, the Minister of Health, Gaétan Barrette, tried to sound reassuring and stated that there is no question of closing the emergency at the centre Cloutier-du Rivage. It only took a few months before this scenario came up again. “We will represent our members to try and find solutions to this temporary closure. We will consult them in the coming days in order to take their possible solutions to the Employer”, stated Ms. Perron.
