Ombudsperson Report: The Barrette Reform is a failure
“Today, the ombudsperson confirmed what we’ve been saying for quite some time, that Minister Gaétan Barrette’s reform is a failure. Despite the Health Minister’s promises, health care quality and accessibility have gone down and it’s the most vulnerable patients who are paying the price.” This was Vice-President of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec – FIQ, Daniel Gilbert’s reaction to the tabling of ombudsperson Marie Rinfret’s report.
“Every day healthcare professionals working in the health network observe the same things as Ms. Rinfret. Less services are administered, patients simply do not have access to the services and care that they normally would and the healthcare professionals’ excessive workload just keeps growing. Instead of worrying about the patients, the Minister insists on being right. He should leave his ego at the door, admit defeat and work with us to find real solutions,” said Daniel Gilbert.
