Collectif 8 mars press release – March 8—a day of action!

This year, the theme for the International Day of Women’s Rights reflects two important feminist anniversaries. The 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration on women’s rights at the UN to eliminate discrimination against women, as well as the 20th anniversary of the World March of Women (WMW). The WMW is an initiative of feminist civil groups from all over the world. Their objective is to create an international feminist movement and united struggle against the patriarchy.

With this in mind, the Collectif 8 mars would like to demonstrate that women all over the world are fighting for equality and that together we are “feminist with all our might.”

This year’s visual, featuring women hand-in-hand with their arms raised in victory, symbolizes our connected struggle. It evokes sharing and liberation, which can only be accomplished when we choose to fight collectively in solidarity. The vivid colours also highlight the importance of recognizing women’s varied experiences and intersectionality.
