An exciting electoral race, An outstanding OHS Committee!
The photographs were there, right in front of us. More and more of them, a sign of great interest in the OHS Committee and for occupational health and safety. For us, that is a symbol of work well done because, through our work and our originality, we may have sparked this curiosity and this enthusiasm. We were enthusiastic witnesses of a vibrant and strong Federation because many were democratically trying to obtain one of the six positions on the committee that we all especially treasure. Our re-election to the OHS Committee at the 2011 Convention would certainly not be easy. The electoral race was on.
Proud and satisfied with the projects carried out, each member of the old committee submitted their name as a candidate for a new mandate. Only our friend, Michel Maillot did not, as he was trying to achieve another dream, that of becoming the next 6th vice-president of the FIQ. Each one still had a great deal to contribute. Starting with Céline Tranquille with her dedication to doing things right. Then, Jean-Louis Pelland with his sense of humour and his tireless commitment to his master, OHS. Our dear, Joëlle Thiébaut, this great lady of interventions and pertinent words. And then, old friends, Sylvain with his great originality and Karine, with her critical and fair wit. A week of smiles, shaking hands and publicity campaigns to try and convince the delegation that each person deserved their seat on the committee again.
Finally, heart beating, feverish, all our names were called. One by one, we heard the congratulations. We were happy to be together again. A new person joins our team, Sara Caron-Guay, full of great constructive and innovative ideas. Michel, having been elected to the FIQ Executive Committee, is now the political officer for our committee. Thus, the best scenario has materialized for us.
