V-P Organization of Work and Professional Practice, Legal Team (FIQ)
Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec - Université Laval ( Syndicat interprofessionnel de la santé de l'IUCPQ )
It is with enthusiasm that I am asking you for a first mandate in the position of vice-president responsible for organization of work and professional practice and the legal team on the Executive Committee of the FIQ.
I have more than 15 years of various experience in the different sectors at both the local and FIQ level. I became part of the local union team in May 2002 as a director in the reserved position for age 30 and younger. Then, I continued to climb the ladder in various union functions such as assistant grievance agent, until I became local president of the SIIQ in May 2009. As the president of the SIIQ, I had to take many positions to properly represent my members with the Federation in a variety of mediums like the Convention, Federal Councils, meetings of affiliated unions, various advisory bodies, TRAC meetings and also with different media. Lastly, during my union involvement at the IUCPQ, I was able to represent the 4 healthcare professional groups at the FIQ: licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists, nurses and clinical perfusionists.
I also integrated the FIQ structure from the beginning of my local involvement. Member of the FIQ Youth Committee for 6 years, the greatest achievement that I was a part of was the creation of the Youth Network, a structure that still exists at the Federation. I have also been a member of the Internal Audit Committee at the FIQ since 2009. This committee has broadened my knowledge of the internal structure of the organization and its different sectors and services.
I chose to leave the position of president of the SIIQ in May 2016, to return to the floor in order to once again experience the day-to-day life of the healthcare professionals that I had represented for many years in my different duties. This return to my professional practice has convinced me to return to my union duties in order to better defend all my colleagues in 2017.
Therefore, my more than 15-year path makes me an excellent candidate for the duties of vice-president on the Executive Committee of the FIQ.
Thank you for putting your trust in me!
