“A delegation of angry nurses carrying flags accosted Barrette as he headed into the meeting. McGill University Health Centre nurses say their concerns have gone unheeded. “We’ve been telling Barrette for quite a while” that budget decisions at the MUHC, based on an outdated 10-year-old clinical plan, are diminishing quality and access to care, said Denyse Joseph, president of the 3,000-member Union of Nursing and Cardio-Respiratory Professionals at the MUHC.

“He needs to invest money in the MUHC,” said Joseph, who last month got the backing of the Coalition Avenir Québec to table the nurses’ petition in the National Assembly. The petition, which has 14,000 signatures, calls for the restoration of proper funding for the $1.3-billion superhospital.”
