Developing a mobilizing approach on the ratios and taking action
May 3, 2019 – In the Network’s last presentation, the participants used their argumentative skills and ability to mobilize. Role-playing, exposing the main arguments used by opponents to the ratios, timed improvisations to respond to tough facilitators playing the role of healthcare professional, citizens or stubborn employers, the challenge was stimulating!
The participants were able to convincingly discuss the ratios in this dynamic exercise in such a way as to be able to, in their own settings, make the healthcare professionals, general population and administrators aware of the importance of the fight for safe ratios, not only for the healthcare network, but for all of Québec society.
Then, the participants combined theory and practice to develop an action plan, build bargaining power and identify the places for intervention at the local level. There is no doubt that local action and mobilization are at the heart of the FIQ’s strategy in the battle for safe ratios.
