A significant gain for the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal

A significant gain for the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal

Yesterday at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal, some important news was announced during FIQ President Nancy Bédard’s visit.

The 656 part-time licensed practical nurses at the institution will be able to get a full-time position for the same shift in their centres of activities. It will be offered a second time to all nurses at the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal.

Of all the demands and solutions that the FIQ has put forward in the last several years, especially during press conferences announcing provincial days without MOT for healthcare professionals (on April 8 and November 15 and 16, 2019), posting more jobs and stabilizing positions for licensed practical nurses has been a must!

While several important measures are needed to improve the situation for healthcare professionals, the Federation applauds the CIUSSS de l’Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal’s initiative and hopes that similar announcements will follow.

The Federation would like to see health institution managers pick up the pace and implement attractive working conditions in order to relieve healthcare professionals’ work overload and exhaustion.

During her visit, the Federation’s president discussed ratio implementation with management. It’s a promising solution that will create conditions that enable professionals to provide humane, quality care that are safer for everyone involved.
