The FIQ Executive Committee unanimously appointed Nathalie Levesque as the interim president of the FIQ. The interim presidency was announced at a special provincial council with all of the FIQ and FIQP affiliated union delegates.
Ms. Levesque has been a vice-president on the FIQ Executive Committee since 2017 and was the joint political officer for the Labour Relations Sector. Backed by a united and determined Executive Committee, she is ready to represent the voices of the 76,000 healthcare professionals with confident leadership.
The delegation also took stock of Nancy Bédard’s withdrawal. An election will be held in December 2021 to elect a new president and fill the vacant vice-president position.
The special provincial council was held in camera, allowing all FIQ and FIQP delegates to discuss the last few weeks. The delegation continued its work constructively in an appropriate setting, i.e., a democratic meeting.
