Since 2005, the month of May has been dedicated to recognizing the essential role of healthcare professionals. In honour of Nurses Day on May 12, FIQ Vice-President Daniel Gilbert will chat live with members on Facebook starting at noon.

The FIQ Executive Committee is lending support to the Red Cross’s campaign to help flood victims. They are also appealing to healthcare professionals and labour organizations to do the same.

The FIQ is currently reviewing a small homes for seniors pilot project underway in North Lanaudière scheduled to be launched in fall 2018. The project brings together community members and several local partners to offer innovative alternative housing to seniors who over time end up living on reduced income.

On May 7, the FIQ invited healthcare professionals from the Bas-Saint-Laurent region to participate in a citizen march for the Hôpital Notre-Dame-de-Fatima in La Pocatière to bear witness to the population’s outrage and deep-seated fears.

Unable to deliver on his campaign promise to open 50 super-clinics, Gaétan Barrette, once again gave into the president of the Fédération des omnipraticiens du Québec (FMOQ).

On May 5, the FIQ recognized Licensed Practical Nurses Day. To mark the occasion, Linda Bouchard, LPN and Vice-President of the FIQ, chatted live with members on Facebook.
