Jérôme Rousseau [Elected by acclamation]

Organization of Work and Professional Practice, Legal and Negotiation vice-president (FIQ)

Institut universitaire de cardiologie et pneumologie

Dear colleagues!

Coming to the end of my first mandate, I am more determined than ever to seek your support for a second one as vice-president on the FIQ Executive Committee.

The last four years have been very busy leading various projects as the Political Officer for the OWPP Sector and Legal Team. Right from the start of my mandate with the ratio project, I knew how to make healthcare professionals’ voices heard from all tribunes, including the MSSS, CPNSSS, political parties, professional orders and media. And on the Legal Team, there was no shortage of battles to fight. There were the many arbitration sessions and hearings before the tribunes, including our victories before the TAT as part of our actions and mobilizations.

As a member of the Executive Committee, you must be ready to take on any challenge, even when it’s unexpected. And so, during my mandate, I had to take on the responsibilities of secretary and meeting management for a few months, but I integrated the provincial negotiation team as a joint-officer, and all of this during a pandemic.

I know there is still so much more for me to accomplish. From OWPP projects, including the continuity of our networks, which was greatly appreciated, and of course, our ongoing battle for ratios. Furthermore, with the Legal Team, my goal will always be to make sure we properly represent our members and the organization in fighting for our rights. Lastly, there is the ultimate battle I will fight with you to the end for our members’ well-being and recognition: provincial negotiations—the organization’s top priority.

I would like to carry out all of these mandates in a spirit of collaboration and with an open mind with all affiliated unions. When we work as a team, we are stronger as a Federation!

Thank you for trusting in me!
