My name is Jérôme Savard from the CIUSSS du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. I hold the position of vice-president of the labour relations Lac-Saint-Jean sector. A licensed practical nurse since 2009 and a child of healthcare professionals, I am well aware of the consequences of job insecurity and the consequences of being paid a woman’s wage for a long time. Father of 4 children and a nurse’s spouse, I am fully aware of the challenges linked to work-family-personal life balance.
Since I joined the union, I have taken the healthcare professionals to heart, as they are basically my family.
My union background is now sufficiently developed to have the necessary global vision. A member of the Education-Animation, ad hoc MOT and post-convention Committees, participating on the ad hoc licensed practical nurse committee, I have more than one string to my bow. I have held the positions of grievance agent, local president and member of the negotiating committee for the local collective agreement.
I am sufficiently articulate and political to properly communicate the healthcare professionals’ reality with the government, as well as the reality of the discussions at the table with you as a delegation.
