Jérôme Savard

Vice-présidente Organisation syndicale, Éducation-Animation (FIQ)

CIUSSS Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean

I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jérôme Savard and I am a licensed practical nurse and vice-president of labour relations in the Lac-Saint-Jean sector at the CIUSSS Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. I decided to make the leap to the provincial executive committee because, this year, I realized I am no longer a young union rep, and that it is time. I realized that the last ten years went by in a flash. I was a licensed practical nurse representative, I sat on the ad hoc licensed practical nurse committee, I was a grievance agent, local president, member of the local nego committee, member of the education-animation committee, member of the post-convention committee, and member of the ad hoc MOT committee. I have been assigned to various spheres of union activism from my region.

My spouse and I thought this through in order to balance our union activism and family life. It will definitely be a big challenge! But we will dedicate ourselves fully to being there for the FIQ’s 76,000 members.

I am here to be the bridge between the provincial executive committee and the delegation. I would like to be the link that unites the delegation. I would like to bridge the gap between the past and the future, to take what we are and push it toward what we want to become. As officer for union organizing and education-animation, I can implement a philosophy that will bring everyone together. To have it filter down to members on the floor and shine through during the period for changing union allegiance so as to maintain our status as the key discussion partner of the government in matters of health. You all know my involvement and desire to make the FIQ a stronger, bolder, more feminist, and united organization.

I humbly ask you to let me be your spokesperson on the executive committee, to let me represent you so I can be an ally for all union reps.
