Michael Potvin [Elected]

Occupational Health and Safety Committee

CISSS de l'Outaouais

Dear union reps:

My name is Michael Potvin. I am 32 years old and have been a licensed practical nurse since 2012 at the Papineau hospital in Outaouais.

Early on I became interested in union issues in the health network, and I quickly got involved in my local union, trying to raise awareness among my colleagues about the major debates over our working conditions and rights as essential workers in society.

Occupational health and safety have always been a top concern for me. Next, I got involved at the regional level during times of great change, such as the mergers, which had a big impact on the mental health of my work colleagues. I am currently finishing a mandate on the provincial Youth Committee, where I gained a lot of experience and knowledge about the internal operations of a big union.

I believe that I would bring new energy and a different perspective to this committee.

So, today I am seeking your support for a mandate on the FIQ’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
