After a first very busy mandate, I am determined to seek your support for a second mandate as president of the FIQ | Secteur privé. It is unthinkable for me to hand over the reins when we see the state of disrepair of the health network, especially our CHSLDs. We are seeing an exodus of our members. The damaging publicity on the care given to seniors since the pandemic is driving our members to change missions, even careers. The government’s orientations regarding accommodations clearly shows that it does not know what the actual needs are. Building senior’s housing will not solve the problems; nor will giving the private sector a privileged position.
We have a role to play in this matter and we need to participate in the discussions
on it. Another challenge ahead is to gain recognition for the FIQP on the union radar. There is still a lot to do in order for the Federation to take its rightful place.
This mandate must showcase our organization. The context with accommodation is in our favour. But recognition must also come from true political will from the whole regroupement. Political orientations and the resulting decisions must also take the reality of FIQP institutions into account. We have an important role to play in the organization, just like the other institutions. We must remember that!
I have been a union rep for 13 years and I think I have proven myself. I am present on all fronts. I do not claim to be the best; however, I know my determination and drive to defend causes I care about such as our seniors, the future of our professions, defending our members, violence against women, denouncing racism in any form. Social justice guides my actions.
I am ready to take on the challenge of representing you again. Those who know me know that I have the energy to do it. Thank you for trusting in me!
