2025: Finally, the end of the year!<\/p>\n

The last Federal Council of the Federation took place in a very special political context. As 2026 approaches, we can breathe a sigh of relief as we bid farewell to a rather difficult year. Difficult for labour organizations, difficult for the health network and difficult for healthcare professionals.<\/p>\n

As we know, Fran\u00e7ois Legault’s government is literally on life support. He is trying everything he can to climb back up in the polls, and let’s just say he has nothing left to lose… and it shows. Throughout 2025, the CAQ has consistently launched fierce attacks on unions, women, community organizations and immigrants. It has been a long time since we have seen a government attack both fundamental rights and opposing forces in such a direct manner.<\/p>\n

It was in this unique context that the work at the last Federal Council of the year took place. Among other things, this was an opportunity for your union delegates to adopt the priority actions that will guide the organization in 2026. Priority actions that will require concerted efforts in the face of a government in its final days and which fall within a pre-election year. Whether it is Sant\u00e9 Qu\u00e9bec, the Ministry of Health, the Treasury Board or employers in the institutions, all these players will need to be closely monitored.<\/p>\n

We are bidding farewell to 2025, but it is evident that 2026 will not be a year of rest. We will still have to face a government that has chosen the path of withdrawal, budget cuts and denial of democracy. Let\u2019s hope that the holiday season will bring it to its senses. It is imperative that it shifts from an accounting perspective to a human perspective, where the needs of patients and healthcare professionals are truly at the heart of decisions. Otherwise, it will find us standing in its way! We will continue to defend the rights of the 90,000 FIQ members as well as a strong public network with the same determination and combativeness that our organization has always shown.<\/p>\n

The budget focuses on financial stability despite the uncertain economic context and the general increase in costs. Your union representatives adopted the conditions for the FIQ\u2019s group insurance contract renewal for the period from\u00a0April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027<\/strong>. Mobilization against work overloads is at the heart of the action plan that your union representatives adopted to demand the introduction of safe healthcare professional-to-patient ratios in the Quebec health network.
