President\u2019s message<\/h3>\n

For several weeks now, Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s political class has been in a frenzy. Resignations, leadership races, by-elections: everything is happening quickly, creating a climate of instability.<\/p>\n

With all this going on, even though we don\u2019t control the speed of events, our organization has and will stay fully engaged. Our priority remains the same: to defend the 90,000 healthcare professionals we represent with rigour and determination. Because in addition to political debates, the decisions made at the National Assembly have very real impacts on your daily lives: on the organization of work, the population\u2019s access to care, your practice conditions, the recognition of your role, the scope of the private sector, ratios and work overload. These decisions also heavily impact thousands of women who occupy the vast majority of our professions.<\/p>\n

It is in this context, gathered at the federal council, that your delegates adopted the electoral strategy in preparation for the provincial election on October 5, 2026. The goal is simple: to collectively prepare and mobilize us so that health, care and healthcare professionals\u2019 priorities are central to the public debate. In the coming months, we will carefully monitor the parties\u2019 electoral promises, especially regarding the front line, network privatization, governance under Sant\u00e9 Qu\u00e9bec and safe ratios. We will create a range of content to keep you informed, stimulate discussion and support engagement.<\/p>\n

Political instability can also create opportunities that we must be ready to seize. This federal council was an important moment for your union reps. They took stock of the issues that directly affect you and reflected on the ways of getting your voice heard and influencing upcoming debates.<\/p>\n

Spring has begun and, like every year, Healthcare Professional Month will be held with many activities in your institutions. I encourage you to take part in it to highlight your essential contribution to care and services.<\/p>\n

Spring also marks International Workers\u2019 Day. At a time when union rights have been weakened, there will be a major provincial march on Saturday, May 2 in Montreal. I hope to see many of you there to amplify our voice together.<\/p>\n
