The Qu\u00e9bec government was forced to rewrite the legislation, as the country\u2019s highest court ruled that the provisions preventing the retroactive application of salary adjustments constituted discrimination against women.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335557856&quot;:16777215,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">However, the new legislation passed by the government in 2019 retains these discriminatory provisions, the labour organizations will argue before Superior Court from Tuesday onwards.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335557856&quot;:16777215,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Moreover, other provisions of the Act are being challenged by certain labour organizations, particularly those relating to freedom of association.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;134233118&quot;:true,&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335557856&quot;:16777215,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201cAlmost thirty years after the <\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">Pay Equity Act<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\"> was passed, we are still having to fight to ensure workers obtain what they are entitled to.
