After a third series of strike days and a few days before the holidays, your Negotiating Committee felt it was necessary to hold a special federal council to update your union representatives on how negotiations have been going.<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

After the two first series of strike days, we saw the government start to open up to discuss our demands. We saw it as a positive sign and were hoping to reach an agreement if the work continued on like that.<\/p>\r\n

\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

However, a few days later we realized that the government\u2019s intentions had changed. Progress is slow in discussions. After over 75 negotiation meetings and more than a year at the bargaining table, there are still very significant differences between us and the employer. Regarding fundamental issues like salary, overtime, ratios and compensation for inconvenient shifts, we are still light years apart.<\/p>\r\n
