{"id":8802,"date":"2025-06-09T15:53:24","date_gmt":"2025-06-09T19:53:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.fiqsante.qc.ca\/prix-regine-laurent-des-membres-honorees-pour-leur-engagement\/"},"modified":"2025-06-10T15:20:49","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T19:20:49","slug":"prix-regine-laurent-des-membres-honorees-pour-leur-engagement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.fiqsante.qc.ca\/en\/prix-regine-laurent-des-membres-honorees-pour-leur-engagement\/","title":{"rendered":"R\u00e9gine Laurent prizes | Members honoured for their engagement"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>R\u00e9gine Laurent prizes | Members honoured for their engagement<\/h2>\n<p>Since 2017, at every convention the FIQ awards the R\u00e9gine Laurent prizes, which highlight individual and collective union engagement.\u00a0 The delegation selected the winners at the convention, held from June 2 to 6, 2025.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h5>Individual prize<\/h5>\n<p>The individual prize is awarded to a member who stands out for their exceptional union engagement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner: Annie Fournier, Syndicat des professionnelles en soins de l\u2019Est-de-l\u2019\u00cele-de-Montr\u00e9al (SPSESTIM) <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An exceptional nurse working the evening shift in the emergency department at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital (HMR), an inspiring union representative and a model of resilience, Annie Fournier won the R\u00e9gine Laurent Individual prize on June 6.<\/p>\n<p>Rose-H\u00e9l\u00e8ne Tib\u00e9rio Fontaine, a representative of the FIQ-SPSESTIM, who accepted the award on her behalf, described her as a \u201ctrue mother bear.\u201d Annie Fournier has always been that strong, caring voice that ensures no one is left behind. Throughout her career, she has embodied the essence of nursing advocacy and championed patient rights, equity, safety and dignity in care.<\/p>\n<p>Annie Fournier played a key role in the fight against mandatory overtime (MOT), taking part in sit-ins and demonstrations, giving public testimonials, and even delivering her message to thousands of people on the set of <em>Tout le monde en parle<\/em>. Through her courage, she crystallized the discontent of a network running out of steam, but above all, she sowed the seeds of hope for real change.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations![\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/3&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;8770&#8243; img_size=&#8221;large&#8221; add_caption=&#8221;yes&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h5>Collective prize<\/h5>\n<p>The collective prize is awarded to a group of members or union reps who stand out for their collective involvement or advocacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Winner:<\/strong> <strong>\u00a0The ER team, H\u00f4pital de Cowansville, Syndicat des professionnelles en soins des Cantons-de-l\u2019Est <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersevering and determined\u201d is how SPSCE representative Lucie Landry described the members of the Cowansville Hospital emergency team who have been fighting for four years to improve their working conditions and the care conditions for their patients.<\/p>\n<p>Media appearances, meetings with elected officials, complaints to management, testimonials at press conferences, work committees, and a complaint to the CNESST\u2014 healthcare professionals have taken numerous actions to denounce MOT and fatigue.
