The FIQ and FIQP delegates rejected the tentative agreement reached with the government on sectoral matters

Over the last few hours, at a virtual special provincial council – negotiations, the delegates of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec – FIQ and the FIQ | Secteur privé rejected the tentative agreement reached with the government on sectoral matters.

“Despite certain significant gains, the delegates found that in the current context, these were not enough to give healthcare professionals the boost they so need,” said FIQ President Nancy Bédard.

For several hours, the delegates were informed of the details of the tentative agreement and gave feedback on the content.  “We had straight-forward, respectful, and at times difficult discussions. The delegates voted. We are a democratic organization and we will return to the bargaining table in the next few days. Our objective was and always will be the same: to obtain working conditions that will have significant, beneficial and long-term effects for Quebec nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists,” said Ms. Bédard.

There will be no further comments until discussions with the government resume.
