Generations STAND UP! | Standing together
23 January 2026With just a few weeks to go until the International Day of Women’s Rights, the Collectif 8 mars is now unveiling the slogan and visual for the 2026 edition: Generations STAND UP!
Inspired by the newspaper Québécoises deboutte!, which over 50 years ago brought a new energy to the streets and to people’s consciousness, this slogan is part of a continuity of feminist battles, waged generation after generation. With just a few words – Women of Québec, stand up! – it gave voice to an emerging feminism determined to make itself heard despite the taboos of the day.
Today, unfortunately, the battle is far from over. We still have not fully achieved pay equity. Violence against women continues. Care work and invisible work are still undervalued. The rise of masculinist rhetoric is fuelling setbacks. These issues compound with several other realities that require engagement, solidarity and collective action.
In this context, the slogan Generations STAND UP! makes perfect sense. It’s a reminder that mobilization is still essential. That solidarity is our greatest strength. And that from one generation to the next, feminist battles continue and grow stronger.
