Kathy Lagacé

Dear union representatives,

I am Kathy Lagacé, a licensed practical nurse since 2014 and union rep since 2015.

In recent years, I have had the opportunity to hold various positions on my union team, going from a representative on my local unit of Rivière‑du-Loup, to vice-president  communication-mobilization to being the interim president of the FIQ-SPSICR-BSL. I decided to return to a local unit representative position to be closer to the members and the field to find out what’s really happening on a day-to-day basis.

I notice that our members need to be informed, educated and mobilized. This starts with communication that is accessible, clear and easy to understand. This is why I want to put my years of active unionism and my first-hand experience of the field to work for the Communication Committee.

If we are to have a stronger FIQ that reflects the image of its members, I am convinced that we need to reinvent ourselves, to listen, to be open-minded and to be self-critical.

My expertise and unionism will enable me to make a contribution to the FIQ’s communication efforts.
