Karine Côté Valcourt

As a feminist union rep working for nearly six years at the FIQ-SPSODIM, I have held the positions of representative and interim VP of mobilization and communication, and I am currently VP of OWPP-Negotiation.

A nurse clinician for over ten years, I have dedicated my career to women and families, first in the delivery room at LaSalle Hospital, then in perinatal care at the Pierrefonds CLSC.

I am running for the Status of Women Committee because women’s advancement has been very important to me since I was young. It is this conviction that has guided me toward a career working with women. As the one responsible for status of women in my union, I work to raise awareness and make tangible improvements in the lives of our members.

For me, feminism means respecting the diversity of women’s experiences, identities and strengths, and empowering them to fully exercise their rights by understanding how inequalities affect everyone. My commitment, energy and creativity drive me to continuously propose new projects.

I am confident that I can actively and effectively contribute to this committee.
