Jérôme Savard
Vice-president (Union Organizing, Education-Animation)
CIUSSS du Saguenay - Lac-Saint-Jean
My name is Jérôme Savard. I am a licensed practical nurse, and I received my degree in 2009.
For me, working in the healthcare network is a family affair. My mother is a nurse, my sister is a perinatal nurse, my brother-in-law is a nurse at Info-Santé, my nephew is finishing his nursing studies, my godson is in his second year, and my wife is a nurse. I grew up watching my mother fight for the future of the profession, and I believe I have the leadership skills to guide, defend and support you in the major challenges ahead.
You can therefore understand why I quickly became involved in the union in 2012 and why I have been an active member ever since. I have held several local representative positions, including com-mob VP RLT, local president, local negotiation committee, education-animation member and, most recently, member of the provincial Negotiating Committee.
My full-time involvement at the FIQ over the past three years has allowed me to deepen my knowledge. I have developed my leadership and political skills and gained a better understanding of the local issues facing the affiliated unions and the FIQ.
I promise you open leadership, leadership focused on constant communication with union reps to develop ideas and solutions that reach the greatest number of people. I believe this is the kind of leadership the FIQ and its members need.
Training is essential for all union reps to strengthen their knowledge and their power to act locally and provincially. It helps them to better understand the issues and to develop effective mobilization strategies focused on concrete and lasting results for members and their demands.
On the EC, I want to be a feminist ally, I want to recognize persistent inequalities, actively support equity, and contribute to creating a fair, respectful and inclusive workplace for all healthcare professionals.
Santé Québec will be a storm. The FIQ must be a beacon in this tumult, and the leadership of the EC will be essential to achieving this. Please give me the mandate to participate and get you involved.
