Group insurance: what is changing in 2026

Your union representatives adopted the conditions for the FIQ’s group insurance contract renewal for the period from April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027. Overall, the renewal stays under inflation, stands out for its stability and even offers certain advantages for insureds.

What you need to know
  • Health insurance (modular): increase limited to 6% on average, related to the very high increase in claims for obesity treatment drugs.
  • Dental care: rates maintained + 5% partial premium holiday thanks to the surpluses.
  • Life insurance: no increase.
  • Long-term disability: 6.9% decrease in the rate applied to the insured salary, which reduces the premium deducted from the pay.
Three tips to reduce costs
  1. Compare the prices of your medication with the Beneva tool (website or app).
  2. Ask for 90-day prescriptions to save on pharmacist fees.
  3. Claim your costs with the CNESST, IVAC or the SAAQ whenever possible. Your medication will be 100% reimbursed and the cost will not impact the group plan.

All details will be available in your Client Centre or on Beneva’s website starting on April 1, 2026.

PRODASI: a helping hand in 2026

In 2026, the FIQ will roll out the assistance program for healthcare professionals on disability (PRODASI) to inform members on disability and facilitate a safe, sustainable return to work. This program involves sending letters at key points during the disability process.
