Carine Maurel
Occupational Health and Safety Committee
CIUSSS de la Capitale-Nationale
I have been a licensed practical nurse since March 2013 and I have always worked in CHSLDs in a specific unit (major BPSD) and, since 2022, in an institution for veterans. I was a grievance agent from 2019 to 2020 and returned to the SPSCN as a grievance agent in March 2023. I am currently an interim secretary.
Occupational health and safety are important matters to me. Having been the victim of accidents and assaults in my workplace, I want to make a difference by bringing my own experience to bear and helping to develop sustainable, scalable solutions. My goal is to help change the employer’s practices to prevent incidents. I am deeply upset when I hear that a member has been injured or assaulted when recommendations have been made and nothing has been done. We can’t wait any longer, we have to prevent it from happening in the first place.
I’m already involved in my workplace with the assault response committee and the committee for the prevention of assaults against health and social services personnel.
