Gabrielle Auclert
Status of Women Committee
CISSS du Bas-Saint-Laurent
Dear union reps,
My name is Gabrielle. I am 27 years old and have been a licensed practical nurse for three years. In 2023, I chose to get involved in the union. I was driven by a sense of anger and powerlessness faced with the injustices my colleagues experience.
Every day I see women fight to perform their profession with dignity, while juggling impossible working hours, a blatant lack of recognition, and a system that wears them down to the bone. It is this hard and deeply unjust reality that has led me to sit on my union’s Status of Women Committee.
The rights we have today are the fruit of long hard-won battles. And yet, we can’t take anything for granted. To that end, our solidarity is our strength.
I believe that each woman deserves to be listened to, believed and supported. That her anger is legitimate. That her dignity is nonnegotiable.
I want to bring a young, proud and combative voice to the FIQ. A voice for all those who have had enough but who want to continue on all the same. A voice to remind us that we have the right to live and not just resist.
