Stéphane Girard

Vice-president (Union Organizing, Education-Animation)

CIUSSS de l'Est-de-l'Île-de-Montréal

Dear colleagues,

It is with conviction that I am running for the position of vice-president of SOS-Education-Animation. I am determined to represent our voice and strengthen our collective engagement. I would like to play a unifying role, in your midst, listening to your realities and attentive to your needs.

The last years were marked by intense negotiations, which brought up many concerns, dissatisfaction and sometimes frustration. I want to help rebuild a climate of trust and revive the sense of belonging and engagement that makes our delegation strong.

I have worked in the health sector since 1995. I worked as a licensed practical nurse from 1995 to 2001 and as a nurse since then. I finished my bachelor’s degree in 2019 and work as a Nurse Clinician Assistant-Head-Nurse in mental health at the IUSMM.

I have been a union activist for more than 25 years. I have built my career both in the field and collective action. Over the last five years, I took on the roles of joint officer of mobilization, then vice-president of mobilization/communications in the Est-de-l’Île-de-Montréal. These roles made it possible for me to take concrete action at the sides of members, listening to them, and showing rigour and determination.

I am someone who works in the field, who listens, is accessible and deeply committed to teamwork. Yes, I have a sensitive side, but I consider it a strength. This in no way diminishes my determination or my desire to ensure our values are respected at the FIQ.

Proximity to members is a daily motivation for me. Too often our colleagues feel distant from decision-making meetings or struggle to find their place. I want to build bridges, strengthen ties and highlight the importance of each person in our union. When we don’t know something well, we disengage. It’s up to us to generate interest and involvement because the issues at stake are so important. We must be ready for the next round of negotiations.

I am committed to representing the voices of members from all over Quebec and to strengthening our collective engagement. I am asking for your support.

Cordially,
