Stéphanie Goulet

President

CIUSSS de l'Estrie - Centre Hosp. Univ. de Sherbrooke

Dear colleagues,

With the support of my team, I am seeking your confidence to become the next president of our Federation. I have been a union rep since 1999 and I have developed many skills over the years as treasurer, grievance agent, twice a member of the local negotiation committee, labour relations VP, strategic coordination committee member for the Dubé reform, and local president for the Cantons-de-l’Est.

I like taking on challenges, I am organized, hard working and a good listener. I face problems and respect different opinions because they are an important resource that help us to find solutions to bring us together instead of dividing us. I’ve been described as a positive, fair, well-argued, honest and committed leader. I’m not afraid to speak my mind, whether I’m addressing members, the employer or the public via the media, I speak authentically about the difficulties and aberrations in our network and the distress experienced by healthcare professionals throughout Quebec.

The recent cuts made by Santé Québec in the public network and the tabling of bills limiting the rights and powers of workers and unions once again demonstrate the CAQ government’s bad faith. The Federation must make its voice heard to denounce this government’s bad choices and the harmful consequences that jeopardize public care, and above all, the mental and physical health of healthcare professionals. The network is struggling to meet needs even though our members are working tirelessly.

We are living through a pivotal period, and it is essential that we remain united and consistent in our choices to force the government to respect members in our category.

I want to emphasize communication and stay close to members with your help, because I sincerely believe in the power of teamwork. The Federation must remain healthcare professionals’ top choice and the FIQ is all the affiliated unions, employees and its members.

WE are the Federation, and I hope that collectively, will proudly carry the FIQ to the summit.

In solidarity,
