Demonstration in front of ChristianDubé’s office: the governmentrefuses to listen to reason

Hundreds of healthcare professionals are currently in front of the riding office of the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, to show their frustration with his silence on the unreasonable offers being made at the bargaining table. “The Minister of Health has been so silent that he could be a ghost. We are there to remind him of his obligation to all patients in Québec. What the government wants to do is downright dangerous for the patients! Will Minister Dubé eventually see the light?,” stated Julie Bouchard, President of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec–FIQ.

Loss of income in five days

While the negotiations are continuing, the government decided to cut all the healthcare
professionals’ income, by removing a 3.5% premium linked to COVID, as of November 4.
“The pandemic may be over, but it left its mark on the health network, The government
says it wants to settle the negotiations by December and slashes working conditions and
the incomes of the healthcare professionals who are holding the network together. That
will certainly not help us reach an agreement”, added Nathalie Levesque, Vice-President
and joint officer for the negotiations
