The FIQ requests a conciliator

Faced with stalled progress, the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec-FIQ is asking the Ministry of Labour to appoint a conciliator in the negotiations with the government.

“After over 75 negotiation meetings and more than a year at the bargaining table, there are still very significant differences between us and the government. Regarding fundamental issues like overtime management, ratios and compensation for inconvenient shifts, we are still light years apart. In this context, we think that appointing a conciliator could help us move toward an agreement,” explained Julie Bouchard, FIQ President.

The FIQ would like to see a conciliator appointed as soon as possible. The FIQ’s Negotiating Committee is ready to work over the holidays.

“The government is sticking to its guns and refuses to compromise. The government’s proposals do not correspond to healthcare professionals’ needs whatsoever, especially with regard to their need for work stability and predictability. Healthcare professionals are fighting for their working conditions and the public’s care conditions,” added Julie Bouchard.
