Julie Bouchard
Julie Bouchard has been president of the Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec–FIQ since December 2021.
First-hand witness to the devastating effects of the many reforms in the health network, which have degraded working conditions, her major battles have been over professional recognition for her members, workload, safe and quality care, implementation of safe healthcare professional-to-patient ratios, as well as obstacles to work-family-personal life balance. She believes these priorities remain fundamental today, particularly in the context of the Dubé reform.
Determined to see working conditions and care in the public health network become more humane, before she became president, she was involved in the Syndicat des professionnelles en soins du Saguenay- Lac-Saint-Jean for over 15 years as a grievance agent and vice-president in charge of the labour relations sector. Strong in her convictions, she successfully ran for president in her local union in 2017.
Ms. Bouchard is a trained licensed practical nurse. She has worked in several centres of activity, such as CHSLDs with seniors, hospital centres, and CLSCs in home care.
