Vote for health care as of today!
You should vote for the labour organization that will represent you for the coming years as of January 30. It is an opportunity to come together in a labour organization that is 100% healthcare professionals.
You should have received your ballot in the mail over the last few days. Do not wait too long, vote now. Your ballot has to arrive at the Tribunal administratif du travail (Administrative Labour Tribunal) (TAT) no later than February 24, 2017. Since the beginning of this campaign, each labour organization has had the opportunity to explain why they would be in the best position to represent you. I will refrain from commenting on what the others have had to say. I will be content to remind you that for us at the FIQ, the choice is clear. We believe that our organization is in the best position to defend the rights of all the healthcare professionals in the healthcare sector. And this, because we are the only union dedicated 100% to nurses, licensed practical nurses, respiratory therapists and clinical perfusionists.
Strong from our 66,000 members, we have extensive knowledge of the healthcare system and its issues. This is what has enabled us, over the years, to take decisions not only on the labour relations of our members, but also on the organization of work, the quality and safety of the care, and the aspects with an undeniable impact on your conditions of practice. Moreover, during the last negotiations, we obtained, in addition to numerous salary gains, that the setting up of healthcare professional-to-patient ratios be studied. This will be done through pilot projects which will concretely show that the healthcare professional-to-patient ratios have a direct impact on the workload and the safety of the care. A plus for you, a plus for the population.
Also, thanks to the proposal-oriented unionism that we practise, we can confirm that by giving the healthcare professionals the possibility of sharing their expertise and skills, we can ensure that the healthcare professionals assume their fields of expertise, and that they are recognized for their true worth, and thus improve the services to the population.
